Fashion Throwback: OVERALLS!

Hi everyone!

I am praying that all is excellent with you! Thanks for stopping by my site again! :) I'm finally back with another fashion post! I feel like it has been too long. Life has been crazy, to say the least. I have been keeping up with my YouTube channels, though. Make sure you are subscribed for either fashion or mommy related content!!

Anywho, I wanted to share my latest fashion find with you--OVERALLS--and how I did the styling! I can't wait to do more with these overalls; I will be featuring them in another fashion post , next month so stay tuned. Guess how much I scored these for? $11 bucks at Old Navy! Yup, they were on sale and I got them for 75% off! I just LOVE a great deal!!

Nothing adds more edge than a touch of leather; whether it be a jacket or a smaller detail like a trim. I went to my go-to Calvin Klein leather jacket and added a collar necklace to give this look some toughness!

I'm loving the farmer-esque vibe this look is giving off; except the leopard print infinity scarf  and the cat-eye sunnies add a twist of glamour! ;)

This last look option is for my ladies & gents residing in cooler climates this time of year. It is very possible to wear overalls and keep warm. I thrifted this coat for $5! It was brand new with tags still attached and the original price tag read $119!

I hope you were inspired, as always!! Check out the video where I styled these overalls!

VALENTINE'S DAY LOOKBOOK

I just posted a video featuring these looks on my BRAND NEW YouTube channel! Yes, I said BRAND NEW YouTube channel. I will post more about that later this week. :)

For the moment, enjoy the looks. I took one affordable body con dress and styled it 3 different ways. These looks are meant to inspire, so feel free to mix things up to fit your taste.

Outfit of the Day: ALL BLACK GLAM
Hi Everyone,

I wore this look to church last weekend and I felt really great in it. It would have been perfect, except for the fact that I had to take my hat off. It was super windy outside!

These pants are almost 3 years old and it was gratifying to be able to fit back into them. Since cutting out bad carbs from my diet I am down 5 pounds and I have 10 more to go! Whohoo! lol Anywho, I hope this look inspires you to rock your all-black proudly.

Wool Hat: Thrifted
Shag Sweater: H&M
Pleated Pants: Marshall's
Glitter Pointer-Toe Pumps: Target

Its really simple to jazz up an all-black look with sequins, or glitter. A pop of color also mixes things up!
I did a red lip for my pop!

My loves after church!
My champ and me! 😍💙

ABOUT: WHO IS KER-LEEN?

From the very early age of nine Ker-Leen always knew she had a special gift to share with the world. In the privacy of her room she wrote songs using only a composition notebook, a recorder, and a cassette tape. A few years later, Ker-Leen went on to record her first song in a live studio. She later went on to enroll in a modeling training institution, Barbizon. Once she graduated from Barbizon Ker-Leen encouraged her parents to enroll her and her younger brother into an acting school, which later went bankrupt leaving hundreds of families devastated.

After the acting school fail, she pulled back from entertainment side of her life. She went through high school doing other extracurricular activities and did not think about music until her college years. One day she shared her dreams with her then boyfriend (now husband) and the two have been creating music together ever since.

Today, Ker-Leen has found freedom in creating music independently. Having recorded 2 EPs (available on iTunes) and started up a successful YouTube fashion/lifestyle channel (Thrifty Chic), she has found a way to combine all of the elements of entertainment she enjoys, on her own terms.

With over 300,000 views & over 8k followers, she has found both growing success and contentment in what she does. She has been featured on fashion expert Shari Braendel's fashion blog for What to Wear Wednesdays (here), in Ice Cream Magazine (here), as well as in Star Central Magazine (here) as Fashionista of December 2012. She has graced the stage at the Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival for a crowd of thousands; opening up for Pieces of the Dream and the Ohio Players. In addition to singing, style blogging, and vlogging she is also a published writer. Her work has been featured in the S.O.U.L Mag, “an urban lifestyle magazine covering Christian Hip-Hop, culture, fashion, art, ministry and leaders making a difference in their cities.” (S.O.U.L Mag.com)

Education has always been important to Ker-Leen from a very young age. Having two immigrant parents really helped her appreciate the value of a solid educational background. Ker-Leen currently holds a Master's degree in Adult Education from the University of South Florida and teaches college courses as a professor at SUM Theological Seminary & Bible College.

Her goal is to reach others with an inspirational message that we are all created for a unique purpose and it is up to us to be dedicated to finding out what that purpose is. "We are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Therefore there is no need to compare ourselves to each other. We should celebrate each other's distinct, and beautiful characteristics while using our lives to glorify God.”

Merry Christmas!
This is one of my favorite times of the year. I really enjoy celebrating Christmas because it brings back fond memories. During this time of year I can recall being a child, bundled up in a sweater, waiting for my dad to come through the door with gifts. My mother was on constant watch to make sure my sister didn't eat all of the candy canes off of the Christmas tree, and my baby brother was running all around the house. This was the time of year when everyone seemed to get along better, smile more, and laugh often. I can remember feeling so carefree. At church we learned about baby Jesus and the Haitian adults in my family would drink a beverage they were calling Kremas.

Those memories still play over and over again in my mind each Christmas. This time last year I was mourning the loss of our baby boy Korbyn. But this year, although we miss him dearly God has smiled on us with the gift of his brother Eilan. Our story reminds me of a scripture in the book of Ecclesiastes that talks about seasons in life. King Solomon, in all of his wisdom, shared about the cyclical nature of life.

Ecc. 3:1-4

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance...

XOXO,

Merry Christmas

VINTAGE GLAM. :) A FLASH FROM THE PAST!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you enjoy today's post!!

2014            VS              2015

This blog post gives me so much perspective! I wore this look last year around September and styled it completely different! The fact that I can still fit in this dress after having a baby gives me such motivation to keep working towards my fitness goals! My overall goal is to look way better and more fit post baby than before the baby!

I just posted a video where I style this dress in two different ways. I decided to post my favorite look option on the blog. :) I did neutrals with the dress and I like how soft the finished look appears. I love bringing my thrifted pieces back to life, so to speak.

Floppy Fedora: Aldo
Necklace: Outlet Mall
Belt: Thrifted (Goodwill)

Nude Pumps: Zara

Grateful.
I honor of my 101st post, I'd like to celebrate all the amazing things that are taking place in my life right now. We spend entirely too much time lamenting over the negative in our lives, or what we don't have. I'd like to focus today's post on how blessed I am, in honor of Thanksgiving. The following list includes some of the highlights in my life, currently.

1. My relationship with Jesus. I am so secure in my eternity and the love that I enjoy through my relationship with Jesus Christ. Nothing in life is better than that!

2. I am blessed to be doing life with my high school sweetheart, and we still like each other! lol How many people can say that? In fact, I fall more in love with him everyday. We've traveled the world together and created beautiful music. I am grateful for our kind of love.

3. Out of that love, I bore a son. Eilan is perfect, in every way, and I am relishing in my new mom experience! He is our rainbow baby; our gift after the rain storm.

4. I am working in a career field that I feel I was created for. I love teaching and helping other adults come to a better understanding of themselves.

5. Finally, I am grateful for being able to express myself creatively while inspiring so many people worldwide, as a style blogger and singer.

Today, no matter what life may look like for you, there is always something you can be thankful for. Instead of comparing your life to someone else's highlight reel create a highlight reel of your own. Thank God for what you have and contemplate ways in which you can improve your life.
