Mommy Minute: Oluwashola Toussaint

Hi Mommies,

This week I have the pleasure of introducing you to one of my long time friends. She is a quiet powerhouse who is a wife, mother, daughter, friend, and therapist. She is thoughtful, kind and generous. I am honored to know her and I know you will love her!

Meet Your Favorite Therapist, Oluwashola Toussaint

Tell us a little about yourself (Family makeup, education, accomplishments, faith, goals, hobbies, etc.)

My family is made up of my husband, 10yr old daughter and 3yr old son. We enjoy enriching our children with their Haitian and Nigerian culture and Christian faith by cooking meals, listening and dancing to music, and reading about our diverse background.

I am a graduate of the Florida State University. After several years in the social work field I decided to become an entrepreneur, and in 2018 I started my mental health private practice. I have the pleasure of facilitating the healing process of teens and adults who have faced childhood trauma, racial trauma, depression or anxiety. When I’m not doing that, I’m getting lost in music and trying to dance to it, or planning home decorating projects.

How many children do you have? 2

Talk about one lesson you have learned since your motherhood journey began.

God shows us a little of ourselves in our children...the good the bad and the ugly lol; so as a mother my role is to model (not just talk about) what building on strengths and working on weaknesses is all about.

One piece of advice for other moms?

Take time for you to be a woman, to learn who you are outside of being a mother; doing that doesn’t take your mommy title away, if anything it enhances it!
