Mommy Minute: Lessie Julien

Hi Mommies,

I am so pleased to introduce you to today’s mom! We have attended the same high school and college! So, pretty much moving in the same circles for years! Like me, she grew up in a Haitian household and attended the same denomination of church. We probably ran into each other when we were little and didn’t know it, being a part of the Haitian Christian community in South Florida. :) She has such a sweet spirit and a beautiful family. I am sure you will love her.

Meet Lessie Julien

My name is Lessie Julien. I’m 33 years old. I was born & raised in Hollywood, FL. I grew up on Haitian traditions and the Baptist church with my parents, older sister & brother. In 2006, I relocated to Tampa, where I attended the University of South Florida. I earned a degree in Criminology and certification in Paralegal Studies. In 2014, I married my beloved husband, Philip, and we now have 2 beautiful, growing boys, Ezekiel & Edris.

I really enjoy spending time with my family & friends, traveling, trying new things & different places and participating in local activities and community events. Recently, I’ve grown a love for party planning and aspire to venture further into the business.

My ultimate goal is to advocate for children with special needs & promote the importance of inclusion for all people, despite their capabilities.

One lesson that I’ve learned about motherhood, is that it does not come with a manual or handbook. There is no “right way” when it comes to parenting. It’s an ever changing and learning journey, and I can only do what’s best for my family & I.

One piece of advice I’d like to share with other moms, is to make time for yourself. We give so much of ourselves to our partners, children & work. Give yourself the same love, you give to everyone else!
